Gigantism

"gigantism is a condition characterized by excessive growth and height significantly above average.  Gigantism is caused by excessive secretion of growth hormones during childhood.  The reason for this is most often a benign pituitary gland tumor or by an underlying medical condition such as multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1.  In pituitary tumors surgery is often the choice of treatment and is successful about 80% of the time.  If surgery is not possible, medications that reduce growth hormone secretion are used.  The symptoms are excessive growth, frontal bossing and prominent jaw, thickening of facial features, large hands and feet, increased perspiration, weakness, secretion of breast milk, irregular menstruation, headaches, delayed puberty, and double vision."
