Diabetes Insipidus

"Diabetes insipidus is a condition characterized by excretion of large amounts of severely diluted urine.  It denotes inability of the kidney to concentrate urine.  Excessive urination and extreme thirst (especially for cold water and sometimes ice or ice water) are typical for diabetes insipidus.  Diabetes insipidus responds to desmopressin.  desmopressin reduces urine production during sleep.  In some cases the brain does not produce enough ADH or the kidneys aren't working with ADH properly; This causes diabetes insipidus. This can also be hereditary."
